The Multidisciplinary Center for Pneumonia and the Mesothelioma Center of the University of Colombia are seeking patients for a new institutionally approved clinical protocol for the treatment of malignant pleural mesothelioma, a rare tumor that affects the membrane central nervous system, pleura, and lung membrane. The main researchers of this study, both at Columbia University Medical Center and Weil Cornell Campus in New York-Presbyterian, are: Mark E. Ginsburg, Center for Lung Cancer, Surgeon; Robert N. Taub, MD, medical oncologist and director of the Center for Mesothelioma; Mary Louise Keohan, medical oncologist; and colleagues of surgical, medical and radiation oncology. pleural mesothelioma treatment
Patients with mesothelioma registered in this Phase II protocol will receive a preoperative chemotherapy regimen in addition to postoperative chemotherapy and radiotherapy. For this study, patients should not have histologically confirmed malignant mesothelioma, a surgically available disease, pre-chemotherapy or radiation therapy, and other serous medical or mental disorders. pleural mesothelioma treatment
